About the Board
The role of the Board of Ethics is advisory in nature. In circumstances relating to Town government and situations involving Town employees (volunteer or paid), the Board of Ethics makes recommendations in response to concerns or questions about compliance with the Code of Ethics.
The Board of Ethics consists of five members appointed by the Town Board, members must reside in Brighton and a majority of these members of the Board of Ethics must not be Town employees. The Board of Ethics renders confidential advisory opinions to Town employees and volunteers, upon written request of such employee or volunteer, concerning the Town Code of Ethics, Chapter 10 of the Town Code, and other ethical issues, and may also make recommendations to the Town Board, at the Board’s request, concerning amendments to the Code of Ethics.
